Zachary's 15th Month Check Up

This picture is so sweet. The boys were just sitting on the couch watching Elmo (Zachary's favorite) before we left for the doctor's office.

Our handsome boy (don't let the mohawk fool you,
he is the sweetest boy)!

Everyone waiting patiently for Dr. Erickson to arrive.
Look at that team work!

The heartbreaking moment! Zachary had to have four shots today.

It breaks your heart as parents to see your children in any pain, so when we got home Mommy gave Zachary a warm bath. Within hours Zachary was already starting to bruise from all the injection sites-our poor little guy! Zachary weighed in at 27.36 lbs (84%) and 32.09 inches (79%). Zachary is fit, healthy and happy!
We love our little/BIG boy!

Our Heartbreaking Anniversary...

First, we would like to say thank you for all the support in the last few weeks. I would especially like to thank those who have taken the time to listen to the way that I feel. Thank you for taking the time to listen to my little heartbreak and lending me an understanding ear. It is because of YOU, I know I have the BEST FRIENDS aka BEST FAMILY in the WORLD!

As many of you know I had a miscarriage before successfully carrying Dimitri and I was devastated. This Saturday, will mark the three year anniversary of the due date to the little baby we lost. This loss still affects me in many ways and still my heart breaks for the little one who is not with us here on Earth. I am very spiritual and I know that God has a master plan. I know in my heart everything happens for a reason but it does not fill the void I feel inside.

Choosing to have children was the BEST thing I ever did with my life. About a year and a half after Dimitri was born, I decided to look through the journal we kept as we were trying to conceive. I came across the notes regarding my first pregnancy and started to cry. Our first doctor’s appointment was to be on June 14, 2005 and it was on this day that we were suppose to hear our baby’s heartbeat for the first time (little did we know the importance of this date). Within a few days of making that first appointment we would lose our baby.
FAST FORWARD to one year later, I gave birth to Dimitri Constantine Vasilacopulos on June 14, 2006. For a moment while reading these papers time seemed to stand still. I took the papers to Cicily to read and with unspoken understanding we knew God had a plan. Looking back, we know EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON!

Everyday we are grateful for our children and we are blessed everyday. The void does not go away, the love still remains and we will never forget. We came across this on the internet and thought it was perfect.

"I'm writing this from heaven, here I dwell with God above. Here there are no more tears or sadness, just eternal love. Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night. That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through, God picked me up and hugged me and He said "I welcome you," "It's good to have you back again, you were missed while you were gone, As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on."
God gave me a list of things that He wished for me to do, and foremost on that list was to watch and care for you. I will be beside you every day, and week, and year, and when your sad I'm standing there to wipe away each tear. And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight, God and I are closest to you in the middle of the night. When you think of my life on earth and all those loving years, Because you're only human, they're bound to bring you tears, But do not be afraid to cry, it does relieve the pain, Remember there would be no flowers unless there was some rain.
And to my friends, trust God knows what is best, I'm still not very far away from you, I'm just beyond the crest, When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind, I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind. And when you feel a gentle breeze or the wind upon your face, that’s me giving you a great big hug or just a soft embrace. And when it's time for you to go from that body to be free, Remember you're not going, you're coming home to me. And I will always love you from that land way up above, We'll be in touch again someday, P.S. GOD SENDS HIS LOVE!"

A beautiful day in America

Today the inauguration of Barack Obama will take place making him our 44Th President of the United States! This is an incredible moment for our country. We were listening to the news this morning and the news reporter stated, let's hope for future generations that this is only the beginning of the CHANGE taking place in America. This moment in history that we are about to witness affects us on so many different levels. As mothers, it gives us HOPE for future generations. As partners, it allows us to have FAITH that the world as we know it is changing and as Americans, we could not be PROUDER! Again, we would like to echo the thoughts of the reporter-that this is just the BEGINNING! The BEGINNING of CHANGE! Together we can all make a difference! GOD BLESS AMERICA!

PROOF ALIENS ARE AMOUNG US!

After years of speculation, we finally have evidence that aliens live among us! Cicily went downstairs to check on the boys and with a shriek of laughter she told me to grab the camera, she has spotted an alien in the basement. As I got my camera ready, I hollered for the alien to show himself to me and that we come in peace. Much to my surprise the little species started walking towards me.
Slowly approaching...
The alien appears to be friendly.
Look, how cute he is! I think we'll keep him!

80 Years & Counting

Today we went to the Olive Garden for lunch to celebrate Yiayia's 80th birthday. It is hard to believe that the woman that raised me is turning 80. I would like to share a personal story for just a moment. My Yiayia (grandmother) always plays a game with us when we try to leave. She will touch you, run away and say "I touched you last". This is something that I will always carry with me. I honestly believe that she does not know the impact that she has had on my life and the way she has "touched" my life. I am forever grateful to her and my Papou (grandfather) for their love and support! I was blessed to have them raise me.
MMMM cake!
(Yes, the boys started early with the dent in the cake)
Dimitri helping Yiayia blow out her candle.
Austin & Brandon wait patiently for a piece of cake.
Jared and Angela.

This is a picture of me and our Yiayia.

Happy 80th Birthday Yiayia- WE LOVE YOU!

Can you say c-r-u-s-t-a-c-e-a-n?

We are trying to teach the boys how to cook. We want them to be self sufficient so when they go off to college they will be able to to eat well or impress a girl by cooking. The menu this evening was snow crab legs and baked salmon. Dimitri was so excited to open the "wrapping paper" and once he opened it he got a disappointed look. After, he spent a few moments analyzing the package he got a huge smile on his face and yelled, "CARROTS" (you have to love the innocence of a child).
After explaining to him it was not carrots and that it was crab, his initial reaction was not so pleasant.
Is Dimitri...SICK TO HIS STOMACH? SCARED? NERVOUS?
Your guess is as good as ours.

It took him just a few minutes to warm up to the idea of cooking the crab. Dimitri loved the crab and salmon he kept asking for more.
YAHOO! GREAT JOB Dimitri -WE LOVED IT!

Is the NBA in your future?

This video makes us laugh because if you listen to the background noise Wall E is talking and his every sound is in perfect sync with Zachary's movement.

Zachary is getting bigger with each passing day. It is both exciting yet sad to watch him grow. Zachary is the baby of the family and that means that soon there will be no more babies in the house. Before we know it the boys will be starting sports and/or school, then college, marriage and babies of there own. It is a bitter sweet feeling. Ugghhh, don't know if we will ever be ready!

Winter Vacation...

Our winter vacation is coming to a close and we decided we would go swimming.

Zachary was a BIG boy on the slide.

We think Zachary is singing in the shower.

Look, how much FUN he is having!

A "fishy" kiss before we go!

Dimitri has always LOVED the water!

Dimitri loved ever minute!

Today, Dimitri put on his life jacket and started "swimming". Dimitri does not know how to swim but he was sure trying. Dimitri would kick his feet and flap his arms! It was great to see him try.

Every time we go swimming Dimitri gets upset because he wants to go down the BIG slide. It is frustrating as parents because we don't want to hold him back but as you approach the stairs there is a big sign stating you have to be 44 inches tall to go down the slide. We know that he is not that tall because the little dinosaur marks the necessary height. What is a parent to do? Yep, that's right we ignored the sign and Dimitri got to go down the slide. Well, it didn't pay to break the rules because when we tried to take Dimitri down the slide for a second time the life guard was there to advise us that he was "too little". BUSTED!

We could not take a picture of the event because we did not want to draw attention to us breaking the rules, but here is a picture of the slide. We are proud of Dimitri aka "Maverick". We love that he is adventurous!

Under the sea...

Today we went to The Living Plant Aquarium for "Family Fun Day".
Mommy and Zachary observing the fish.
Dimitri (our dare devil) had NO FEAR while petting the snake.
The moon jellies were a family favorite!
Zachary loved the star fish.
Dimitri loved watching the fish!
We even got a chance to play with the Southern Stingray.
After, we went to McDonald's for lunch.
Zachary was so cute, he kept playing with this cute little girl (whom he just met) and left her by giving her a hug-we sense a ladies man in the house.

We're so glad the boys love to play with each other.

While waiting for Grandma Mel and Uncle Mike to come over the three of us decided to play PlayStation. BUSTED!
Thank goodness we were all sharing!

Grandma brought the boys a basket full of books and a blanket to snuggle with.
Nothing spells FUN like a peek a boo book with Elmo!
Thank you Grandma Mel for the wonderful gift basket!
