The final chapter...

In every story there is a beginning, a middle, and an end. Sometimes the story has many chapters and sometimes only a few. With Cicily and I, there were many years of chapters, and unfortunately, this story is now ending… and it’s time to write a new book.

We (Cicily and I), started this blog as a scrapbook for our children a couple of years ago. It was a way for us to record memories for ourselves, keep a record of events and feelings for our children when they get older, as well as keep our families up to date with what’s going on in our lives and with our family. As many of you know, our family dynamic has changed. Cicily and I are no longer together- and, even though it has been very hard for us, we are attempting to make this transition as smooth as possible for our children.

We have many friends and family, who have been a great support to each of us. And it’s important to know, that even though we each can point fingers at who is at fault, or who was responsible for the demise of our relationship: None of that matters. What matters is that we spent many many years together, and have two beautiful boys who we love and adore. What is important right now is that our children adjust as easily as possible and that they each know that they are loved by us, and by each and every one of you.

It is also important to remember that yes, Cicily and I are no longer together, but Dimitri and Zachary have been, and always will be brothers. Because of this, we have started a new blog http://dimitriandzachary.blogspot.com/ as we begin this new book in our lives. Cicily and I will both have access to this blog, and both be able to post pictures and updates on our children. Some posts may have one child and some posts may include both. I think it depends on how many activities the boys do together and how often we get the desire to post.

Thank you to everyone who has continued to support each of us, and make both of our children feel loved. I know it is hard, with the ending of a relationship to not take sides, or let your opinions of each of us affect how our children are treated. Remember that we love both of them, have raised both of them, and will continue to make every effort possible to make sure they both grow up to be the adorable, fun, and loving boys that they are.

That being said, I am excited to blog and keep everyone updated on the boys and the new steps they are taking in life. Stay tuned at our new blog for the fun new adventures that we are sure to have!!

Saturday morning adventure...

Saturday morning we woke up to find that Zachary left his bed sometime during the night to go sleep with Yiayia.

Yiayia and Zachary are sound asleep (looks like Zachary lost the battle with the blankets). After everyone woke up it was time to go see Ms. Kellie for a hair cut.

Then the real adventure began, we went to Cowbunga Bay.

Going for a swim. The boys loved the lazy river not because it was exciting but because the water was warm.

We all had a great time at Cowabunga Bay and to reward ourselves we went to the new TCBY store in Sugarhouse. Yummy!

Makeup lesson 101...

While we were cooking dinner the boys thought that they would give themselves a make over with Cicily's makeup.

Dimitri thinks that mascara is a paint brush.

Zachary had makeup all over.

As you can see the boys had a great time. Cicily on the other hand will now need to go buy new makeup to replace all of the ones the boys ruined. Thank heaven for little boys!

How does this happen?

During the past week Dimitri and Zachary have been sharing a bed.

Our sweet angels look so peaceful. It is hard imagine that their sleep would be disrupted in any way.

So how does this happen? Dimitri is now on the side of the bed that Zachary started out on and Zachary is on the opposite side of the bed and is curled up into a ball on the floor.

Yes, that is Zachary tucked under the Lightening McQueen blanket.

Last night, we tucked the boys into their beds...Zachary sleeps on the left and Dimitri on the right...so again how does this happen? Every night when we check on them it always brings a good laugh.

Despicable me...

On Saturday, we took the boys to see Despicable Me.

We love these little guys...in many ways they remind of us of Dimitri and Zachary.

Zachary is ready for the movie to start. We all had a great day at the movies and we give the movie TWO thumbs up!

Camping...

On Saturday, we thought it would be fun for the boys to have a camp out in the front room. Well, it took Dimitri about a half hour to fall asleep and Zachary couldn't fall asleep without being in his bed which left Dimitri to camp out alone.

Tonight we tucking Zachary in bed and he looked up and said, "Mommy is my best friend" followed by a long pause and then said, "Mada is my best friend too." Our hearts just melted!

Our holiday started of with a bang.

I got pulled over for speeding. Yes, that's right apparently I was going 49 miles an hour in a 30. Lucky for me the officer said he was going to give me a ticket but his printer wasn't working. Whew...that is the last thing I needed. Those of you who know me know that I always have bad luck on holidays.

After the "Cops" moment it was off to the Sharp's house for a BBQ and fireworks. We did a cake walk and the boys made off like bandits with all the prizes.

Zachary won a Toy Story snack.

Mommy is hoping that standing by Zachary will bring her some luck.

It did! Zachary is Mommy's lucky charm, they both won a package of brownies.

Zachary was very excited.

Dimitri won a piece of cake, look at that smile. Between the Toy Story candy, bubbles, stuffed animals, cupcakes, etc... we think that the boys made a stealing.

It's that time of year again.

On Thursday, Cicily had a board meeting so I decided to take the kids to Taylorsville Dayzz.

On the roller coaster.

The boys rode the roller coaster all by themselves.

Brothers...so Dimitri and Zachary were in line to ride the train. The gate opens and Dimitri hops in the train car with a girl and ditches his brother. Boys, boys, boys!

Today, we went to the Sharp's house for a Father's Day BBQ and Bella stole the show. Our job was to bring a pie and Angela said Bella loves banana pie but we chose our favorite...chocolate.

Well it looks like Bella didn't mind the chocolate pie.

Dimitri had a big day. Today, we went to Toy Story 3, lunch with friends, he rode his bike and four wheeler, etc... Guess he must have been exhausted because all of a sudden he was watching Cars and he disappeared. We thought he must be in his room playing with his toys or downstairs playing with the trains but we could not find him. Finally, we looked in our room and there he was on our bed. Dimitri had covered himself up with his Cars blanket and fell asleep. How cute is he? Seriously!

Today, we took the boys to see Toy Story 3. This was the first trip to the movie theatre for our boys.

Why does Dimitri look so excited?

That's right....it is because yesterday he officially turned 4 years old.

Dimitri loves pancakes for breakfast, so Matri took him to McDonald's.

While at McDonald's this woman thought Dimitri was adorable and asked if she could go down the slide with him. Dimitri makes friends wherever he goes and this was no exception...too cute!

From there they were off to Home Depot where Dimitri was adding items to his wish list.

Dimitri also had his four year old check up and couldn't understand why the slit went in the back. According to Dimitri we should wear the gown like a jacket.

Dr. Gustin let Dimitri listen to his heart. Dr. Gustin is an amazing doctor and we are lucky to have her. Dr. Gustin said that Dimitri is very smart and is in great health. Dimitri weighs 38.8 lbs and is 40.55 inches tall.

We thought Dimitri was done with his shots until he starts Kindergarten but he was two shots behind, so we decided we might as well give him four shots now so he doesn't need any when he starts school. Dimitri has been a little afraid of needles since the IV incident, but our brave little boy didn't even cry.

Yesterday was a beautiful day so we decided to go swimming.

This was Zachary's first time alone on the water slides and he looked like a pro. Zachary is such a dare devil, he went down on his stomach, his back and any other combination you can think of. Zachary would jump in and out of the water and tell us he was a dolphin. Adorable!

Over the weekend we went to the new TCBY (The Country's Best Yogurt) in Layton.

We received the BEST customer service and the yogurt was delicious.

Memorial Day Play Date...

On Monday, we had a play date with Kira.

Dimitri and Zachary adore Kira. In many ways it has turned into a love triangle.

Today, we decided to kick off summer. We went to a carnival and to the park for a play date.

Zachary rode the big swings all by himself and nearly gave us a heart attack when he decided he wanted to play with the seat belt. Thank goodness it did not come undone.

Dimitri wanted to go on this ride so bad and we told him that he was not big enough. Well that was a mistake, our creative little boy tried to prove to us he was tall enough by standing on his tippy toes.

Last night Dimitri was playing army before he fell asleep. Every night we check on the kids after we put them to bed and this is what we saw.

Dimitri is very "organized" as you can see. All of his cars are lined up in a row and his army men are completely wrapped around his surf board table. Yes, our little boy is a little "OCD" but we just like to think he is organized. The mind of a child is amazing!

I was pretending to "attack" Cicily. Cicily yelled "help me" and the boys came running to attack me. Each them jumped on me, pinched me, pushed me, attacked me, etc...they were very cute in trying to protect their Mommy/Matri. At least we know we have some body guards to protect us.

For the last few days Zachary has been sick.

Our poor little boy.

We were trying to take Zachary's temperature and he was not very happy, but he loves his Woody tattoo.

It is heartbreaking when your kids are sick and we just want our little guy to get better. Zachary was lucky not to get what Dimitri came down with but now he is fighting his own virus.

This was Dimitri's last week of preschool.

On Tuesday, Dimitri gave Mrs. Dean a thank you gift.

Many of you know that Dimitri is OCD or as we like to call it "organized." He likes everything to be in order and he has his own routine which consists of making his bed, getting dressed, helping to put the laundry away, etc... Dimitri is also very observant. At breakfast Dimitri was talking about a stop light. I thought nothing of it until I looked down to see Dimitri made a traffic light out of his Capt. N Crunch with Crunch Berries.

Teaching and life lessons...

It is no secret that Zachary looks up to Dimitri. If you have ever watched our boys together you will see Zachary mimic everything that Dimitri does. At times we have to ask Dimitri to translate what Zachary is saying and each time he knows exactly what Zachary is asking for. Dimitri adores Zachary. Zachary is in the middle of being potty trained and Dimitri is his biggest cheerleader.

First emergency room visit...

Dimitri has been very sick.

On Wednesday, we took Dimitri to Primary Children's Hospital to get IV fluids because our doctor's office could not get an IV line in after trying several times.

This was Dimitri's first emergency room visit.

The nurses gave Dimitri a moose dressed as a football player because he was a brave little boy and did not cry while the were giving him the IV.

What a difference a little fluid makes!

Dimitri is slowly getting better. Right now he is fighting two different viruses and seems to be on a roller coaster with each day that passes. Thank you to everyone for your well wishes, phone calls and thoughts. It is always hard when your baby is sick but these acts of kindness were very much appreciated. Thank you to the staff at Primary Children's Hospital they were wonderful!

Everybody is crazy about a sharp dressed man.

Yesterday, Zachary put his pants on by himself and although they were a little crooked, we see perfection and today Zachary put his underwear on inside out which put a smile on our faces. This is a huge milestone for our little guy. Zachary has been pulling his pants up and down while potty training but this is the first time he put his pants and underwear on by himself. Yay for Zachary!

Today, Dimitri performed in a Mother's Day Program for us.

Dimitri filled out questionnaires regarding Cicily and I. Some of the answers he gave are hysterical.

For mommy: I am 18 years old, I am happy when Dimitri listens to me, I am pretty when I am happy and if I could go anywhere I would go to work.

For Matri: Matri is pretty when she is working. Matri likes to do homework. Matri's favorite food is salad and if Matri could do anything she would want to take Dimitri to school.

We love you and you will always be our little prince after all Vasilacopulos means "son of the king."

On Sunday we had a farewell dinner for Aunt M. Aunt M has decided to move back to San Francisco after living in Utah for two years.

Zachary has been using the potty! Yes, that's right our little man is in the process of potty training and he is doing an amazing job. After he goes potty he yells, "look I did it." We love watching his excitement and he is excited to be in "big boy" underwear. Congratulations Zachary, we are very proud of you! We love you!

Today, the boys met Sponge Bob Squarepants, it was hysterical. Zachary's reaction was priceless. The moment Zachary noticed Sponge Bob he instantly rushed to go greet him including running into people in the middle of a conversation to get there (thank goodness they were understanding how important it was to our little guy).

Sports injury...

Dimitri loves to play sports. Dimitri and Matri were playing basketball at McDonald's and Dimitri wanted Matri to lift him up so he could dunk the ball. Well...he smacked his face on the basketball rim and cut his lip.

Ouch! The good news is that after he cut his lip he wanted to try to make the basket again. Dimitri also threw the ball and made the basket all by himself. We were impressed and we love that he never gives up despite how challenging something may be.

This weekend we celebrated Brandon turning 16.

It is hard to believe he will be driving soon (note the police officer on the cake).

In school they taught Dimitri about April Fool's Day, we thought nothing of it since he is only 3 1/2 years old. However, we learned that we should NEVER underestimate Dimitri. While we preparing the egg dye, Cicily opened a drawer in the kitchen and found an egg. Cicily looked perplexed and asked me if I stuck it in the drawer and I said no. Dimitri started laughing and said that he did it. The other morning when we made eggs for breakfast, Dimitri took an egg out of the crate without being noticed and hid it in the drawer. Dimitri was thrilled he was able to pull a trick on us. Cicily and I were just happy that the egg did not break in the drawer!

Today, we went to an Easter Egg Hunt at the park.

Seriously, it is April 3 and this is the first time we attended an Easter Egg Hunt with snow on the ground. It was bitter cold this morning and the boys were dressed head to toe in winter gear, crazy Utah weather!

Spring is here! That means Dimitri is in "spring training" for T-ball. Dimitri loves playing baseball and it seems like we are outside almost every day for batting practice. Yesterday after "batting practice" Dimitri grabbed a piece of sidewalk chalk and without hesitation he started making his own hopscotch game. It was adorable to watch him make the shapes and in the shapes he wrote all the appropriate numbers.

St. Patrick's Day Parade...

This weekend we celebrated St. Patrick's Day.

A leprechaun came to our house during the night and gave the boys a special power. If they waved their hands over their cups the milk would turn green.

They were both excited to drink their green milk.

On Saturday, we went to the St. Patrick's Day Parade.

Everyone was eager for the parade to start.

Our boys were adorable when the USMC passed carrying the flag. They stood up and put their hands over their hearts and stood in silence as the flag passed, it was a proud parent moment for the both of us.

Today, I watched my niece Bella for about an hour.

I painted her toe nails today for the first time. I figured why not give her a little pedicure to help her relax and enjoy her time away from her parents.

Bella seemed to love it! I kept telling her that her Mommy and Daddy were going to freak out when they saw her toes. Bella just smiled with delight and began to coo when I told her both of us were going to be in T-R-O-U-B-L-E! Does this mean she is already starting to rebel against her parents? Too funny! The big question is, do you think that they are going to let me watch her again?

Our boys have discovered shadow puppets.

Dimitri loves to make shadow dogs with his hands and in this picture he was waving goodnight to his shadow.

We take turns reading in each of the boys' rooms and every night that we are in Dimitri's room to read Zachary gets to play with his shadow. It is so cute to watch the excitement on their faces when they make a new animal.

We went to the Hart's home for a painting play date.

Our boys delivered a belated Valentine to Kira.

A Mrs. Fields cookie cake that said, "Happy Valentine's Day". The boys adore her. It is funny, because we call it a bizarre love triangle. Dimitri loves Kira, Kira adores Zachary and Zachary loves Kira too! Whew... someone is going to end up heart broken in this situation.

Zachary gets started! This is the first time that Zachary has ever used a paint brush to paint.

Dimitri and Kira are simply adorable.

Kira is so cute and a good sport. Zachary accidentally hit her in the face twice because he kept picking up a toy that should be rolled on the floor and then at lunch he accidentally spilled his drink all over her. Poor kid, he was probably trying to impress her which went terribly wrong.

Zachary did an amazing job painting and the second picture he made he titled it the "alligator". We will post pictures as soon as the paint dries.

Thank you to the Hart Family for having us over for lunch and a memorable play date. We all had a fantastic time and can't wait to get together again soon!

Happy Valentine's Day!

It has been 9 years since our beloved Papou passed away. To honor Papou, Cicily had a cookie cake made since he loved sweets.

Of course the cookie cake had to come from the best cookie company aka Mrs. Fields Cookies. Since Papou passed away our family gets together and goes bowling on Valentine's Day to celebrate his life and the legacy he left behind.

The boys and I have been preparing for Valentine's day.

Zachary helped me wrap our gift.

Note: Zachary chose the wrapping paper.

If you ask Zachary what the monkey does he will beat on his chest and yell "OOO OOO".

Zachary sampled some of the strawberries and put them down thinking that no one would notice, but the chocolate around his mouth was a dead give away.

Dimitri was cautious while dipping the strawberries, remember he does not like to get dirty.

To make this activity more fun for the boys, I had plates of sprinkles for them to dip the strawberries in.

The boys worked so hard and did an amazing job.

Mommy/Matri is going to LOVE them.

Full disclosure notice: While I was melting the chocolate, I burnt it. My beloved came to my rescue and melted some chocolate chips to save the day. One more reason why we love her.

Dimitri's Valentine's Day party has finally arrived.

To say that Dimitri was excited to go to school today would be an understatement.

Today we went to Winterpalooza.

Dimitri and McGruff.

Dimitri and Zachary even met the Ghostbusters.

This was a "team" activity. Now that's team work.

Dimitri was not ready to stop playing with the balloons.

At the time we took this picture Zachary was the smallest boy on the large slide. It was funny to see him climb the steep stairs and see about 20 bigger kids behind him praying he would hurry. We are so proud of him for not giving up and for always believing in himself.

Dimitri and Zachary got so sit in a helicopter...very exciting!

We decided to check out The Living Plant Aquarium booth. Dimitri participated in the shark toss and scored 4 out 5 and scored higher then some of the kids older then him. We were all in shock to see he has a great arm and the hostess said Dimitri should become a pitcher (we assume she meant for the Yankees). Before we left it was time to check out the reptiles. Zachary loved this snake and he would have taken it home if we would have let him. He played with this snake and seemed fascinated by the snakes every move.

Zachary even wanted to play with the snake all by himself. Does this mean we should get him a pet snake for his third birthday or should Zachary write a letter to Santa for a new pet? I assure you his mommy will have a lot to say about this conversation. Another Family Fun Day!

Is it time?

Recently, Zachary has shown an interest in going potty.

To encourage his curiosity we had him pick out his new big boy underwear.

Zachary chose a package of Sponge Bob underwear and a package of Disney's Cars.

Potty training is not an easy task and this week we have had our fair share of ups and downs. One day Zachary can show interest in going potty and then the next day he is stubborn and wants nothing to do with it. The other problem we have is we told him, "No pee pee or poo poo in pants, it goes in the potty". Zachary has taken that statement to heart when it comes to poo poo. The other day I put him down for a nap and when he woke up he came up the stairs naked as the day he was born and covered in poop. I went downstairs and poop was on his floor and all over his bedding, BUT I would like to say that there was no poo poo in his diaper. Yep, he took of his diaper off to go poo poo! So even though he was a mess and his room was a mess we were proud of the little guy for listening. We have the underwear and the potty watch...we just need to all be on the same page!

Our day on the farm...

We took Dimitri to Wheeler Farm to milk a cow (we were going to take both of the boys but ten minutes before we left Zachary was so exhausted he fell asleep on the living room floor and we did not have the heart to wake him so he stayed home with Yiayia).

We had never seen a mama goat give a piggy back ride.

It's 5:00 PM, that means it is time to milk the cows. Our cows name was Jessie and just based off of size, she was a little intimidating.

Our sweet boys, Dimitri and Zachary are only 16 months apart so you would think they would be extremely close, but like all siblings they like to fight.

Dimitri sent Zachary to the hospital for stitches several months ago and since then they have each given one another plenty of bumps and bruises. You would think that Dimitri would always have the upper hand since he is older and taller, however...

Guess who lost this fight? Dimitri!

According to Dimitri, Zachary hit him and pinched his face. Now Dimitri has a black eye and the following scratches. Brothers will fight and boys will be boys!

Today marks the anniversary of the due date of the baby we lost. I found this poem online and it brought tears to my eyes because I know that one day I will be able to hold our Angel Baby in my arms.

The heartache does not go away and I know that I will never be whole because a piece of my soul will always be in heaven with our Angel Baby. The boys wasted no time diving into the cake. Zachary took the ice cream scoop and decided to dive right in before the cake was cut. Luckily our boys share with one another and Zachary broke Dimitri off a piece of cake before licking the scooper. Happy Birthday Uncle Jared!

Miracle baby...

Baby Miles is a miracle baby for our family.

Born on January 5, 2010 weighing 1 lb 5 0z and was 11 inches long. Miles has been a fighter and has already overcome some major obstacles.

This is a picture of Miles and his Mommy.

Mommy kisses are the best!

We are happy to report that Miles is still fighting. He now weighs

2 lbs 2.5 oz. Thank you everyone for your continued prayers. We

wish nothing but the best for this little guy! Miles is living proof that

miracles do happen!

Day out on the 4 Wheeler...

Dimitri and Zachary rode their 4 wheeler today.

Here comes Zachary!

When Zachary would get stuck he would stand up and press on the gas like you would a real motorcycle, if he was still stuck he would
hop off and push the bike out of the snow. He is such a cutie!

We are happy to report both of the boys did a fantastic job. The
boys did not hit any of the neighbors cars and they had a blast!
Another great day!

Bumps, Bruises & Blessings...

Yesterday, we had quite the scare. I was upstairs in the kitchen and heard a loud BOOM. Dimitri was running up the stairs as I was running down. I asked him what had happened and he said, "the big table fell down and Zachary was stuck". We have two tables downstairs, one is a small red table in Zachary's room and the other is his train table in the family room. I ran into Zachary's room to hear him screaming and crying, he was laying on his tummy and was trapped because the dresser had fallen on top of him. I felt horrible...threw the dresser into the wall and picked up Zachary. I called Cicily to tell her what had happened and we both agreed that even though he appeared fine we needed to take him to the doctor. Zachary told the doctor that he was jumping, so we assume he got on top of his dresser, jumped off and the dresser landed on top of him. Zachary was fine except for the seven bruises on his back. The doctor also said that the dresser landed high on his back and that he may be a little sore.
THANK YOU GOD for protecting him from harm!

New Year's Resolutions...

We think we have figured out what Dimitri's New Year's Resolution is. Dimitri and Zachary both eat healthier and better when we tell them what they are eating is going to give them big muscles. Each time they take a bite of something they flex their muscles at us. Well, Dimitri appears to have taken it one step further...

Another exercise to keep his tummy tone.

Dimitri lifts the ball over his head and does more squats. Dimitri is so funny, he loves to do his own thing and when he sets his mind to something he always completes the task. Using the exercise ball is just one example, he picks it up and just starts doing it. We think he is going to be great about keeping his New Year's Resolutions.

This morning Zachary woke up with a fever and all he wanted to do was cuddle. Our little boy climbed into our bed to watch TV and he feel right to sleep.

After some medicine and some much needed rest, we are happy to report Zachary is feeling better.

New Family Pets...

Papou Yanni came over to visit and to drop off presents.

Each of the boys received a Transformer and a Zhu Zhu pet.

Along with the Zhu Zhu pet each of the boys received an accessory.

We know that the hamsters come with their own names but the boys came up with their own. Zachary named his pet hamster "Buzz".

Dimitri named his hamster "Chick Hicks" from the Cars Movie.

We decided to go swimming today.

Okay, we decided to go to the Lyons Club today since they have a "kiddie area" for the boys. Well, we were there for 15 minutes before all the lifeguards began blowing their whistles and evacuating everyone out of the pool. Well...it is just our luck that someone pooped in the pool. Yes, you read that right! Ugh...so they had to clean the pool and it takes up to an hour. We asked for a refund and went to the Cottonwood Heights pool instead considering the boys drink so much pool water..

Bowling...

We went to Fat Cat's Bowling Alley today.

This was the first time that Zachary would bowl by himself.

Zachary looks so innocent.

Uncle Jared was suppose to be helping Zachary but as you can see he

let Zachary bowl before the pins had set. Zachary did a great job!

Dimitri was very cute! At first he used the metal rail but he realized

that the rest of us did not use it and stopped using it. So BIG!

Look at that concentration. Each time Dimitri's ball would hit the pins he would throw his arm up in the air and yell "Yay". Dimitri was so excited!

Hollywood...

For Family Fun Night we went to Hollywood Connection.

Everyone is getting ready to ride the bus.

Zachary was hysterical. He would act like a "tough guy" by sticking his arms up in the air but his elbows remained firm on the cross bar. It was so funny to watch! Zachary was smaller and braver then the boy behind him, if you look he is covering his eyes!

Zachary and Mommy met a new friend.

We all decided to be brave and ride the dragon.

Dimitri's favorite ride was the bumper cars.

Despite Dimitri's age he is an amazing golfer.

Zachary on the other hand will be an amazing hockey player!
